Swimming

I've started swimming lessons!

They're great fun. I was a little bit sleepy when we went but I still thought it was great to be a giant bath with lots of other babies.

I didn't get upset at all even when the funny lady poured water on my head. I could have stayed in there all day.

My Granny came to watch and took this photo of me and Mum.

Christmas Shopping

My Mum and I go and clear the mailbox everyday and people keep sending these books with pictures of toys & stuff in them that you can ask Santa for.

Mum said that I could have a read of it so that I knew what to ask Santa for....

however I decided it was just as much fun to eat the paper instead!

I can roll!

My mum took this really cute picture of me for my 4 month birthday.

While she was doing it, I showed her a new trick I've learnt - I can roll from my tummy to my back. I do a lot of contortions when I'm on my back to look behind me and find my toys but I've got no desire as yet to roll onto my tummy - being on my tummy is not my favourite place so why would I want to roll onto it?

Yay for Holiday Weekends

My friends Paula, Matt and Jessica came to visit me today because they are on holiday up here all the way from Wellington.

Luckily I'm feeling much better today so I was able to share some smiles with them. I even got to meet Jessica's Grandma too.

Here's some photos of me with Paula and playing with Jessica.

Presents for me!

My Granny and Grandad bought me back lots of presents from their travels plus my Aunty Kathryn sent me some too so I've been very spoilt.

Granny bought me this dress in Singapore, it says its for babies who are 18 months old but they must breed them small over there as it nearly fits me now. No one's going to ask if I'm a boy or girl when I'm wearing this outfit!

4 months old

Yay I'm now four months old.

I went on a hunger strike this week so I've been a very unhappy girl. I've seen many medical professionals and they think that I might have my Dad's tastes and don't like the healthy multi-vitamins my Mum's been taking - I think she should stick to producing chocolate flavoured milk. They also think I'm getting my first tooth - unfortunately it can take up to 40 days for this to come through so I could be grumpy for quite a bit yet - isn't my mum lucky!

My Granny and Grandad came home this weekend. We went out to visit them in Te Awamutu yesterday and my cousins Jack & Cooper (and my Aunty Leah & Uncle Tony) were there too. I was still not very happy so I didn't smile too much but here are some photos of us all together.

Don't you think Cooper & I look alike!

Cooper could tell I wasn't very happy so he gave me a cuddle.

Then Jack decided he'd join in and cuddle Cooper so we were all cuddly together.

Look how much I've grown

When I was just 10 weeks old my Grandma bought me and my friends these cool shorts. Mine were a little big if you look back at the photo, but now they fit me perfectly. I'm seeing my friend Jessica very soon so I hope she's bringing hers with her so we can go on an outing in them. Then I'm going to go all the way to Invercargill so that Kate and I can be twins too - if its warm enough!

We've had another busy week. I still have very bad wind and this week it has been putting me off eating which hasn't made me very happy. If anybody has got any new ideas on how to get my wind out, please let us know as everyone in our house is getting a bit frustrated with it.

When I'm not windy I'm a very happy little girl who loves to talk and laugh and play with toys. Here's a picture of me with my teddy bear which my Aunty and Uncles sent me all the way from London.

My Granny & Grandad are over visiting my Aunty & Uncles at the moment and celebrating my Granny's 60th birthday in Spain.
I'm looking forward to seeing you next week Granny & Grandad.

Fun & Games

Yay for hands. Did you know that not only can you suck fingers and hold your own hands you can grab toys with your hands.

I've been learning to play with all my cool toys. Mum went off this morning to find me some clothes and came back to find that I'd taken up snake wrangling. I'd grabbed both Sasha the snake and Cassie the Caterpiller and was playing games with them.

They have girl names because all the toys on my playgym are boys - Walter the Whale, Steve the Seahorse and Olly the Octopus. My Dad says when I'm bigger that we're going to learn to dive together so that I can go and meet them all in the sea.

Last week Mum took me to see a special Doctor called an Osteopath because I've got a few problems with my neck and still have very bad wind. I thought he was a very fun man and laughed and smiled at him. Mum thought he was a very brave man as he was squishing my tummy and that normally causes me to vomit. Anyway he says I'm shaped like a banana but that he can fix me, so that sounds good. Next week I have to go and see the not so nice doctor who wants to poke me with needles but I'll try and be a brave girl.

Summer's arrived!

Mum and I have still been a bit under the weather but we've been trying to get out in the sun to kill off our bugs.

Mum has been having fun dressing me in pretty dresses - you have to admit I look pretty cute!

I have a cool new trick. When Mum puts me in bed in anything but my gogo bag, I can escape out of my blankets and push myself all the way to the top of my cot. I think this is really cool, the only problem is, if I do it in the middle of the night, I get a bit chilly as I haven't figured out how to get back under the blankets yet.

3 months old

This week has not been such a good week for Mum and me. We've both been sick with a cold. It's very bad timing as my Granny Sue is off enjoying cruising round the Greek Islands so she can't come and look after us. Lucky she left us with a stockpile of meals in the freezer before she left. I've been spending lots of time with my Dad while Mum has been catching up on her sleep, I've even done some tummy time exercises on top of Dad's tummy.

Mum says its lucky I'm such a happy little girl and will stay playing in my cot while she continues to sleep. I like to talk to Winnie the Pooh and tell him all my stories and I've discovered these amazing things on the end of my arms. Mum says they're called hands - I can stare at them for hours and then I extend them out and bring them into my mouth and then stretch them out again. They're also good for grabbing stuff - like Mum and Dad's hair!

12 Weeks Old

I'm 12 weeks old today. To celebrate we're going to coffee morning with the other babies which is just like having a party.

Yesterday I took my Grandma & Grandad to Auckland Airport so that they could go and visit my Aunty and Uncles over in London. I was a very good girl. I had a little nap in the car, but then when I woke up my Grandma was sitting next to me and she wanted to talk, so for once I let someone else have a say.

At the airport there was lots to see and a funny man who kept making loud announcements but I didn't see too many aeroplanes.

After all the excitement I was very tired, so I slept all the way back to Hamilton but I still had enough energy to play games and tell Dad all about my trip when I got home.

After all my adventures and to celebrate being such a big grown up girl I decided I would have a big sleep and did 11 hours. 7.30pm to 6.30am which my Mum thought was fantastic as she was pretty tired too.

Hope you have a great holiday Granny & Grandad - lots of love Mackenzie xxx

Meeting My Nana & Grandad Johnston

My Nana & Grandad Johnston came all the way up from the Hawkes Bay to visit me for the weekend.

Here are some lovely photos of all of us together.

11 Weeks Old

Up until now I've been sharing Mum & Dad's room with them and sleeping in my hammock.

Mum had great plans to move me downstairs but was going to do it slowly so I didn't get upset. She treats me like such a baby when I'm a big girl now so I just decided that I would stay sleeping in my cot all night on Tuesday when Mum and Dad thought I was just going to have nap - sometimes you need to show these parents whose boss.

I love my cot because I can see Winnie the Pooh and Eyeore and all their friends on my wall. I talk to them as I go to sleep and I talk to them when I wake up, in fact I like to talk and talk and talk - Mum says I must take after my Granny Sue and Aunty Kathryn!

Here's a picture of my very comfy cot and friends on the wall.

Happy Fathers Day!

On Sunday I got to share my first Fathers Day with my Dad. Mum and I had been shopping and bought him a coffee maker to help him cope with the early mornings now I'm around.

I got to give my Dad lots of cuddles all day which was extra special cause he's been sick and wouldn't cuddle me in case I caught his bugs - which I've managed to do anyway.

My Grandad also came to visit to celebrate Fathers Day with us and to see how good out kitchen/dining area looks now its all finished - we needed to show him that all his hard work was worth it - Lucky he's retiring so he'll have more time to help Mum and Dad finish the next 6 rooms!

10 Weeks Old

To celebrate my 10 week birthday I had lots and lots of visitors at my house.

First Jenny, Bronwyn and Kyle came to visit, then my Aunty Paula and Jessica came to visit with Aunty Louby and Kate. It was a very exciting day but a bit scary for me cause the big kids play with some pretty hard toys and I did sustain an injury from a fire truck driven madly at my head but I was ok after Mum gave me a cuddle.

Our Mum's wouldn't have their photos taken - something about not getting enough sleep but here are some of the three of us girls together.

In the afternoon, my Granny Sue came to visit to meet Jessica and Kate (and their Mums) and she bought us all matching outfits. We look so cute, hopefully we'll be able to get together over summer to really show them off.

I also had more visitors earlier in the week. Granny Sue brought her friend Jill to visit and she spoilt me with lovely presents. Aunty Leah and my cousins Jack and Cooper also came to visit. I'm looking forward to playing games with them when I get a bit bigger.

(Sorry can't get photos of Jack, Cooper & Mackenzie to upload - will try again later)

At 10 weeks old my favourite things to do are to push myself backwards with my legs - this is lots of fun when you're having your nappy changed or when I'm in the bath with Mum. I'm getting better at finding my mouth with my hand, I can now hit the toys on my play gym and I can roll half way by myself - Cooper showed me how he rolls all the way over so I've got some practising to do. But best of all, or so Mum says, is that I am learning to sleep much longer - last night I did 10 hours!

9 Weeks Old

I am 9 weeks old today.

I now weigh 5.3kg or 11lb, 11oz. This week I've been figuring out that I can't fit my whole fist in my mouth so I'm trying to separate some of those finger things and try and just get one or two in my mouth at a time. I seem to miss alot and just end up making the sucking noises - but that lets Mum know I'm hungry and she's gives me something else to suck.

Mum decided I needed a bit more entertainment than just her silly songs so I've been having a go with the play gym. I can watch the things swing and I try and get them with my hands but they keep running away.

I've had a very busy week. Paula and Mike from Wellington came to visit me last weekend - Paula gave me cuddles, but I think Mike was too scared that I'd make him clucky.

Then on Tuesday I had a very busy day with the Plunket Nurse coming, Granny's friend Vicky visiting to admire me and then I got to go to my first birthday party at Kyle's house. Big kids sure make a lot of noise.

On Wednesday Mum and me went out for lunch with with one of her friends from work. I made sure Mum didn't eat any of the yummy things she wanted because I didn't want to get wind. On Wednesday afternoon I wasn't so keen on having sleeps so Mum decided we'd take some photos - don't I look cute.

Today we're off on a big adventure to Rotorua again - this time without my Dad, I'm sure he'll enjoy a night of peaceful sleep without me around!

8 Weeks Old

Yay! I am now 8 weeks old. I have grown heaps and learnt lots of new things since I arrived.

I'm not exactly sure how much I weigh as I don't see the Plunket Nurse until next week, but it's safe to say it's LOTS! I can now hold my head up pretty well, although I don't really like tummy time and my most impressive skill is that I can now find my mouth with my hand so that I can suck it. Here's a picture just to prove it.

At the moment I'm working on my rolling. Mum and I have been practicing and yesterday I managed to roll half way all by myself.

Yesterday, for my 8 week anniversay, my Granny Sue came to spend the day with me. She likes to help out with washing and stuff and as Mum and had all ready done most of it, I thought I'd help out by creating more. I did two big power vomits over Mum and me. Then I was thinking that Granny still wasn't busy enough, so I did a ginormous poo through my double nappy and got my clothes so that Granny could have a go at bathing me. Here's a photo of us having a bath together.

After all of my adventures for the day I was very worn out and with my new found skill of sucking my hand, I slept nearly 7 hours last night. Mum didn't quite manage the same as she didn't believe I could sleep that long, and she said I was very noisy with my slurping!

Party! Party! Party!

On Monday I had my first party.

I had 6 babies from my ante natal group and their Mums over to play.

We had a big mat down in the lounge and we lay around and looked at each other. while our Mum's made us chocolate milk by eating lots of chocolate cake.

Some of the bigger babies played with my toys - they were really clever and could hold them and put them in their mouths. I haven't got past just staring at them myself yet. I prefer to hold other things like big peoples fingers or even better my mum's hair (especially when she is trying to put me down).

Here's a photo of a few of us lying on my mat - the others were up enjoying their chocolate milk!

My big trip to Rotorua

On Saturday we went to Rotorua to spend the night with my Aunty Louby, Uncle Stu and Kate.

I made sure it was as difficult and disorganised as possible for Mum and Dad by keeping them up all night the night before with my wind. However once we got to Aunty Louby's house I was a perfect angel. I slept for 3 hours at a time and even did a big 5 hour sleep during the night and I didn't vomit anywhere!

Mum and Aunty Louby had a nice time eating cheesecake and gossiping while Dad and Uncle Stu went out on the town.

Kate and I played together in the bath and then had some cuddles on the couch.

Visitors from Rotorua

Today my Aunty Louby and my friend Kate came to visit all the way from Rotorua.

I saw them when I was newly arrived in this world but this time I was much more talkative and shared some jokes with my Aunty Louby...

and some kisses with my friend Kate.

My Dad wanted to see Aunty Louby too so he came home for lunch and took this photo of all of us together.

Tomorrow we're going on a big adventure to stay the night at Aunty Louby's house and then on Monday I'm having my first party with all my friends from ante natal coming to visit my house - wow life is fun!
